Welcome to Lieven Vandelanotte's web archive

Welcome to Lieven Vandelanotte's web archive. At some point in the future, it will have to be rearranged thoroughly. In the mean time, a new homepage is under construction at http://perswww.kuleuven.ac.be/lieven_vandelanotte.

For the moment, some exceedingly miscellaneous things are gathered here:

Me

An updated version of the purportedly indispensable Who am I section will hit you in the face here.

Take a look at my music collection. Oh, and feel free to comment on it, or recommend things you like and figure I might like.

It's picture time. Not of any interest to you if you're not a genuine Vandelanotte, but then again, we have nothing to hide ;-)

The archives

A veritable e-book, would you believe it! In my continuous quest for virtual éducation sentimentale, I have archived my own private selection of poems on this site  -- most of the poems included are in Dutch, however.

I specialize in electronic recycling, and here's an example: a collection of Larkin poems, with Dutch translations, which I took from some emails a happy few of people were kind enough to receive and (hopefully) read.

Praised be those who showed interest in, or put up with my ever-shifting moods while composing, my MA thesis!
The Acknowledgements and Introduction of She wanted her words to be her own.
A functional approach to free indirect speech or thought are up for virtual grabs here.

If you want to learn a little bit more about what was, presumably, my last vacation job ever, you can take a look at this small file, and look at some of the results at the American Studies websites: Preview section.

I live at the beautiful Leuven Beguinage these days, but I spent my four years as a student in Germanic languages at the Justus Lipsiuscollege, informally known as de Just. If you're in for a test of your knowledge of Dutch and of rhetorics, feel free to read the letters reflecting on the Wooncultuur op de Just. And finally, still available from my archives for entirely sentimental reasons: the small subsite devoted to the wonderfully succeeded Just-a-Quiz 2000!

...and more

The adventures of my sister in Bolivia (and in Dutch): Adelante!

For an overview of research into the language competence of non-human primates,
you may want to have a look at the NHPs and language website...

Two small websites I made and maintain at the English Linguistics section at the University of Leuven: Systemic Functional Research Community on Interpersonal and Ideational Grammar, and English Linguistics: Applied Linguistics.

And at the website of that same English Linguistics section at the University of Leuven, I also have my tiny spot...
